the price difference continues to be absurd
Once again I return to moan about prices of electronics on this god-forsaken piece of scorched rock known as Malta. After the opening of a large Euronics store which provided me with a decently priced HD screen, I was in the market and still am for a PS3. Euronics soon ran out of their batch which were priced approximately €65 cheaper than the official distributors’. I bided my time because of the rumours of an imminent model refresh. That has just come to pass with the release of the 80gb PS3 at the 40gb’s same price point. It also comes with a dual shock controller unlike its predecessor. A good all round deal except for the fact that the local suppliers sell the PS3 for about €465. Price difference between uk and malta? about €92! In the UK it is easy to shop around for cheaper prices and better deals like a free game or movie thrown in. Where competitions exists such as PC components, then local prices face downwards pressures but when products like the PS3 and Apple’s Macs and iPods have only one official supplier then there’s little chance of lower prices.
