Hi,

I'm afraid Apple haven't provided a keyboard for Maltese yet - it's something that can be worked on by a 3rd party developer and offered through the app store (i'll have a look at how difficult or easy it is) . But it might be a good idea to send apple a feature request.

Android being open-source doesn't just mean the OS is free - plenty of the app developers have the same mindset :-)

Hi there,

indeed there is - i posted the following to that site - hope it's useful info

Hi – here’s the situation in Malta as far as i know -

SG Solutions’ iCentre (not sure if they’re still part of gasan) and formerly BDS were the only official Mac distributor on the island. their prices have always been high due to economies of scale being what they are in Malta and also due to a lack of competition in the Mac Market.

They made a push a couple of years ago to sell macs through various resellers – ultimate, forestals, klikk all bought their macs from bds. I’m sure some of these resellers like consumers were left frustrated by the way BDS handled orders (long delays in shipments, high prices etc)

Klikk recently became malta’s second official reseller t-ie getting macs directly from apple europe. Their prices are cheaper and don’t have any gimmicks like sgsolutions (who don’t quote the eco tax in their prices.) I believe they are also offering apple trained technical assistance for warranty cover but it’s best to contact them directly.

Scan is always ready to compete with anyone on anything however I do not know where they source their macs from and i have a feeling it might be a case of parallel importing.

The best way to compare prices is to go to the apple store ireland and add the item to your cart – this will show the price without VAT which is higher than malta whilst the uk’s is lower and their prices for electronics are always cheaper than most of the eu.

I can say that klikk’s prices tend to be the closest to the apple store’s and one or 2 products have appeared which are actually cheaper. I am always willing to pay between €10 and €50 premium but in the past the price difference (e.g. 15″ power book US vs Malta price) was so great that (at over Lm300 that i could’ve gone to NYC and buy the laptop there).

the iphone is a different story as it’s vodafone pigeon really and i’m not aware of the exact deal. You can compare the local prices with the italian vodafone and tim. Vodafone malta on their site is still advertising the 3g for €600, vodafone italy is selling the 3GS for €615. With the introduction of the new model, the previous model should have decreased and the new one taken its place. Right now in europe rather than introducing a new higher tier. As always we gt short changed.

please note that this info is based on personal research and i have no affiliation with any company mentioned -
