The above video clip is from Apple CEO’s Steve Jobs’ Worldwide Developer Conference keynote address. Basically every year Apple organises a developers’ conference where the Apple developers congregate and clap the latest announcements from Cupertino. Often, it’s been used to announce new consumer products. Case in point - this year’s unveiling of the new iPhone 3G. Not only (as mentioned in a previous post) has Apple listed Malta as one of the 70 countries it will be available in, but at the end of the presentation announcing the countries, Steve Jobs remarks that the next time someone is Malta they can get themselves an iPhone! His tone was jovial but it might be construed as condescending to our proud nation rock. Oh well we’re on apple’s site And steve Jobs mentioned us any publicity is good publicity isn’t it? I’m just glad I waited out the first gen iPhone. Now we wait with baited breath for the pricing announcements.

Q Bar is a trendy lounge and bar at the Valletta waterfront featuring some great interior design elements and lighting. Building a site to match was a challenge though made easier thanks to some great photos supplied by the client. The site still needs to have a wordpress installation for CMS, pending some hosting issues. 

The site itself was easy to build - still used tables for the overall design due to not having enough development time. The flash menu is pretty intricate as I  took advantage of the new flash layer blending options for the highlight. It’s pretty neat and quite simple at it’s core however. Would like to add cookies for the music options.

Trusted.com.mt - property developer’s website with built in property stock database. This started out as a small site without any dynamic content and then grew and grew. Served as a good learning experience for the development of larger databases.

mmm my phone is getting a bit long in the tooth… as I become more managerial I’m finding a PDA like device becomes more attractive. Yeah I just luuurve gadgets. But finally Malta’s little existance is acknowledged on Apple’s site and more specifically… it’s in the list of countries which are listed in the new iPhone 3G page. (link to iPhone coming soon to Malta). After getting Maltese as an available keyboard layout in OS X.5 we might now get an iTunes store! wOOt.

Okay, the picture quality from SD digital cable is acceptable. Managed to connect my macbook to the tv via a mini DVI to VGA adaptor. The quality and sharpness of the connection is great. I downloaded an hd trailer via quicktime.com and the quality is amazing and that’s with the compression artefacts. DVDs and MP4 clips played through the laptop are great.

 Next step Blu-Ray and a PS3 

Picked up a Samsung 40″ full hd LCD today. So far I’ve only hooked up the cable box which isn’t HD. Picture quality considering the upscaling from SD to Full HD resolutions is astounding. Suffering mainly on sports and fast moving sprites.

 The plan is to acquire a ps3 (next month) and the right cabling to hook up my macbook. Hopefully I’ll tracking my progress in aquiring HD signals for the new member of the frogbat’s family.
